Our Vision for Music
At Worth Primary School, we believe that music is an important part of a broad, balanced and creative curriculum. Our aim is to inspire a love of music in every child, providing opportunities to create, play, perform and enjoy music while developing the skills and confidence to appreciate a wide variety of musical styles and traditions.
We believe that music should be an enjoyable and enriching learning experience, allowing children to express themselves creatively, develop their talents and experience the joy of making music together.
Our Music Curriculum
As a school, we follow the Kapow Primary Music Scheme of Work, which provides a progressive and engaging approach to music education.
Through a range of exciting musical activities, children develop their understanding of the key elements of music, including pitch, pulse, rhythm, timbre, dynamics and texture.
Our curriculum encourages children to:

Develop confidence in singing, both individually and as part of a group.

Listen to, appreciate and explore a wide range of musical styles and traditions.

Understand and use musical vocabulary to describe and compare music.

Explore musical notation and use it to support their own compositions.

Create, compose and perform their own music.

Experience the enjoyment and achievement of learning to play musical instruments.
As children progress through the school, they build upon their previous knowledge and skills, becoming increasingly confident and creative musicians.
By the time they leave Worth Primary School, we aim for every child to have developed a love and appreciation of music, experienced playing a musical instrument and gained the confidence to express themselves through singing, composing and performing.
Celebrating Our Music Mark Recognition!
We are delighted to share that Worth Primary School has recently been awarded Music Mark recognition, acknowledging our commitment to developing and improving music education across the school.
We are incredibly proud of this achievement, which reflects our dedication to providing high-quality musical experiences and ensuring that all children have opportunities to discover and develop their musical talents.
Our Partnership with Kent Music
As part of our commitment to enriching music education, we are proud to work in partnership with Kent Music, providing our pupils with exciting opportunities to learn, explore and experience music.
Through this partnership, children benefit from specialist music teaching that complements our school curriculum and helps develop their musical knowledge, confidence and creativity.
One particularly exciting opportunity is the introduction of trumpet lessons for our Year 3 and 4 class.
These lessons give children the wonderful experience of learning to play a brass instrument, developing their understanding of rhythm, pitch and musical notation while enjoying the experience of making music together.
Learning an instrument also helps children develop important life skills, including perseverance, concentration, teamwork and self-confidence.
