Our Allotment

At Worth Primary, our allotment is a valuable learning space where children can explore nature, practise practical skills, and develop a sense of responsibility. Across the school year, pupils have opportunities to observe how plants grow, understand where food comes from, and learn the importance of caring for living things.

The allotment supports curriculum learning in a meaningful, hands-on way. Children take part in sowing seeds, preparing soil, watering plants and monitoring changes over time. These experiences help build key knowledge in science and geography, while also encouraging teamwork, patience and perseverance—skills that are just as important as academic learning.

We believe the allotment also strengthens community links and promotes wellbeing. By working outdoors and spending time in a calm, green environment, children can build confidence and motivation. We welcome parents to support this work where possible, whether through sharing resources, volunteering for practical sessions, or simply encouraging children to talk about what they have grown and learned.
